Family Room Safety is easy. Footstools, rugs and easily-tipped tables are the biggest contributors to falling. A few modifications will eliminate most hazards -
Remove all throw rugs to prevent tripping, which can lead to falling.
Remove all candles and keep a flashlight in a handy spot.
Remove all sharp, fragile, heavy objects from tabletops, bookcases and shelves.
Secure or remove any tippy furniture; e.g., heavy lamps on small tables are problems.
Glass-topped tables are hazardous; remove or replace them.
Footstools and ottomans must be kept out of common walkways.
Even a single step into a sunken room needs a handrail. (See Hallways, Doorways & Stairs.)
